  • Extension of material descriptors, defined during the PhD thesis and initially intended for binary images, to the characterization of grayscale images (functional case). Scientific transfer to other application fields: biology and neuroscience, for the textural characterization of living cells and more specifically, neurons.

  • Energy consumption is rapidely increasing deepening the ongoing environmental crisis. Catalysis is a way to improve the energy efficiency of industrial processes. Heterogeneous catalysts, porous microstructures, are at the heart of this process. Their morphological description provides key information; correlations have been established between structural properties and performance. In some cases, traditional numerical descriptors provide insufficient information. Therefore, new digital descriptors of microstructures have to be proposed. Our different approaches, based on distance maps, focus on various concepts: percolation, accessibility, morphological tortuosity, constrictivity and heterogeneity, for binary images characterization. Some extensions are proposed for grayscale images, which increased the applicative power.

"Flow detection for vascular networks segmentation on high frequencies ultrasonic images (2D+t, 3D)", Internship as Research Engineer

CREATIS, Lyon, France
CPE Lyon
December 2015–July 2016

Internship director: Delachartre Philippe (CREATIS)
Internship supervisor: Sciolla Bruno (CREATIS)

  • Feasibility study of flow detection on 25 and 50 MHz high-frequency ultrasound images, both on dynamic 2D and 3D image sequences. Work on an ultrasound scanner from the company Atys Médica, the DERMCUP. Research and implementation, under Matlab, of an innovative algorithm for vascular network extraction on ultrasound images in order to detect micro-vascularization (cosmetic dermatology, longitudinal study of tumor vascularization on animal models).

"Wide angle sky image analysis for solar radiation forecast at t+2min", Internship as Research Engineer

Reuniwatt, Reunion Island, France
CPE Lyon
March–August 2015

Reuniwatt director: Schmutz Nicolas
Internship supervisors:
Nitche Nicolas and Liandrat Olivier

  • The analysis of wide angle sky images for solar radiation forecast at short term, t+2min, aims to assess the amount of energy produced by a photovoltaic park. Work on a sky imager on the ground patented by Reuniwatt. Implementation under Python of a data extraction program (wide angle images of the sky, humidity, ...). Analysis of all the data for the implementation of a solar radiation forecasting method at t+2min. Research and implementation of an innovative multi-region cloud segmentation method on wide angle images of the sky, to help the forecasting of the impact of clouds over solar radiation.
